Rescued girl of the day found tucked away behind boxes in a local charity shop :)

I think she'll be much happier after a bath :)

Christmas in Spring Time

Actually judging by the weather we've been having it's possibly closer to Christmas than spring!

I have a bit of a thing for Christmas themed Barbies so was thrilled when these two arrived in the post this morning :)

On the left is "A Perfect Christmas" Barbie, and on the right is "Holiday Wishes" Barbie...

I love the pink and green candycane gown and waist length hair of "A Perfect Christmas" but "Holiday Wishes" has such a pretty face, I can't decided whether to keep one or both or whether to debox XD  Actually that's a lie, if I keep them I know I'll debox eventually, I just can't resist it!

Anyway, enough of my jibber jabber, here's some pretty doll pics :)

Merry Christmas April!

Barbie Zipbin Clutch Bag Review

Posted on April 24, 2013 at 10:20 AM Comments comments (0)

The problem with schlepping your dolls around the place in search of photo oppurtunities is that all too often they can get quite badly battered in the bottom of your handbag.  This problem had me keeping an eye out for a suitable case to fit my Barbies.

I had had my eye on the Zipbin Barbie clutch for a while and a reduction in price to less than a fiver plucked me from my procrastination and moved me to action via the Buy It Now button.

Well it arrived today as you can see... and quite nicely packaged.

Once out of the packaging the clutch is quite nicely designed, I love the luxurious quilting and Barbie motif...

The design and quilting is so nice however that it throws the cheapness of the pink plasticy material of the rest of the case's exterior into sharp focus :(

Frankly it spoils the appearance of the bag somewhat, and it doesn't look like it's likely to be hardwearing either, but only time will tell...

Opening up the clutch reveals that the strap is longer than it initially seemed allowing the clutch to be carried two ways with either a short strap or longer to go over the shoulder.

The clutch is fairly rigid and just the right size to fit a single Barbie doll.  It also has a plastic pouch for shoes and accessories.

I had expected the 'mirror' to actually be reflective, like the mirrors you get in baby books, but it is only painted on.  Not that this really matters, I just didn't expect it.

The whole thing closes with a nice sturdy metal press stud and should fit nicely into my large ACTUAL handbag, lol!

A nicely thought out, useful item certainly worth the £4 odd I spent on it :)

Barbie I Can Be Astronaut Fashion Set Review

I don't know about you but, even as a kid, my Barbies had their sights set on far greater adventure than could be contained in the nearest beach or shopping mall.  With this in mind I was pleased to discover that amongst the other 'I Can Be' career-based Barbie fashions, an Astronaut set has been included.

First impressions/suit

First impressions were that the outfit was easy to get out of the packaging, which is always a bonus :)  Once the items were removed I was struck by a glaring omission.  There were Barbie's suit, boots and helmet, but where in heck are her gloves!?

Overlooking the small point that Barbie couldn't actually survive in space without gloves (apart from anything moon rocks play havoc with your nails!) the outfit is really rather nice.  The pale blue satiny jumpsuit fits nicely and goes on easily fastening at the back with velcro (which incidentally genuinely was invented for the space programme).  The ease of dressing might seem an obvious one, but in that case you probably didn't spend hours of your childhood trying to squeeze a 1980s Action Man into his one-piece rubber space suit through the tiny neck hole :/

The next logical set seemed to put on Barbie's boots so she could take that one small step/giant leap.  The detailing on the boots is pretty cool, however it occurred to me as I progressed that it might have been a better design if the bottoms of the leg openings of the suit were elasticated.  As it is, the trouser bottoms neither want to sit inside or outside of the chunky boots which makes for an untidy and unrealistic appearance.

The helmet is quite nicely styled.  It comes in two halves and is easy to fit together over Barbie's head while still remaining secure.  You do have to be careful with any long hair getting trapped in the side seam when you close it though.

In conclusion

Overall a nicely designed set, I liked the little logos, detailing and colours used.  The elasticated leg openings and gloves would have improved the set, as would the inclusion of a little flag that Barbie could plant, but these are relatively minor issues that certainly haven't detracted too much from my enjoyment of the set.  Now to send Barbie to LV426 for some Alien butt kicking ;)

Barbie Charm School Blair

So my new Barbie Charm School Blair doll arrived.  I was desperate for her to get here!  I'm afraid I was a little disappointed though.

Her outfit and accessories are great, her hair is lovely and her lip colour gorgeous... but her eyes are rather lacking in presence :( .  She is quite photogenic though, maybe we will bond more :)

Tang is my oldest Blythe who I have had since 2004.  Recently I sent her to Jenni of Thriftydoll for a makeover and today she returned :)

Jenni worked on a character desription of Tang's personality and did an amzing job (though I think it might take Tang a while to forgive me for sending her away XD).

Thanks Jenni!  If you are looking for customizing work in the UK I cannot reccomend her highly enough :)

You can see her facebook page her:" target="_blank">

And her Etsy shop here:" target="_blank">
